Now that 2007 has arrived and the holidays have
passed, we are all getting back into the swing of
things. Valentines Day at Silvercreek is always a
special occasion, and this year is no different. Check
out our specials for your special evening. January's
Fros-Tea was a huge success and we've already
begun to plan the Mad Hatter's Tea Party for March.
With the winter months almost over its time to start
thinking about warm weather and spring gatherings.
The Greenhouse at Silvercreek is perfect for private
parties and our new event planner, Prue, is available
to assist you in any way. The Courier is featuring our
famous breakfast and
homemade soups and Silvercreek boasts seasonal
beers and wines to raise your spirits!

The Queen of Hearts, Nancy, may play croquet with
live Flamingoes, but she will refrain from
screaming, "Off with their heads."
The Queen of Spades, Gretchen, will bring her
collection of ornamental hats for use by party guests
during the tea.
Eve, Pastry Chef to the Queens, will be working
faster than a March Hare to concoct some of her
fascinating creations for all to taste.
The Queen of Diamonds, Vickie, will provide the most
visually interesting teapots and teacup sets along
with some striking party flowers.
The Queen of Clubs, Sandy, will display some
beautiful hand-painted china, which can be acquired
without solving any riddles. She promised not to
splash paint on the guests.
Alex, Chef to the Queens, will be cooking up a
tempest of offerings sure to surprise and delight even
the most persnickety. Tulip-roots will not be served.

The banquet season is rapidly
approaching...rehearsal dinners, weddings, office
gatherings and other special events are around the
corner with the warmer weather. Our dates are
filling in quickly, so if you are thinking about planning
an event at Silvercreek, give our new event planner,
Prue (pictured above with Pastry Chef, Eve), a call.
Prue is always available to help plan your perfect
special gathering. We are pleased to have Prue at
Silvercreek. Her penchant for details and a mind that
never quits producing great ideas, makes her a
perfect fit. Prue recently retired from teaching at
South Side Elementary and after teaching, she has
always wanted to organize and plan events.
Many of you attended our Breakfast with Santa in
December. This event is a perfect example of the
work that Prue does for us everyday. The breakfast
was a huge success! Prue has also been a regular at
Silvercreek and the Courier Cafe for years! You can
count on Prue for new and creative ideas when

| Courier Breakfast and Home Made Soups |

Hearty soups and breakfasts are the perfect way to
warm up on these cold winter days. Every day at
the Courier Cafe, we make hearty made from scratch
meals to help fortify you against the elements.
For breakfast, try our buttermilk flap jacks, maple link
sausage or our special corned beef hash with
sauteed mushrooms.
Each day of the week, Gabe, the chef at the Courier,
produces wonderful home made soups that have
become local legend. Here are some of our favorites
for cutting through that winter chill:
- Chicken noodle soup with home made egg
noodles
- White Chicken Chili
- Vegetarian Lentil
- Famous Courier Midwestern Chili
- Hearty Vegetable
- French Onion
Pair these soups with our home made bread. It
doesn't get much better than this. Visit the Courier
Cafe seven days a week for breakfast, lunch or
dinner. We're open from 7 am to 11 pm Sunday
through Thursday and 7 am to midnight Friday and
Saturday.

Silvercreek Restaurant and Bar is Urbana's original
non-smoking establishment. Our bar has one of the
most extensive and unique selections of beer and
wine in the area. Over 96 domestic,
imported, microbrews and three seasonal or specialty
drafts are featured each night.

extensive bar in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Recipe of the Month: White Chicken Chili |

Ingredients:
- 1 Lb diced, white chicken
- 1/2 lb. diced onion sauteed in butter
- 2 1/2 cooked Northern beans
Dissolve 1/4 cup chicken base into 1/2 cup
water
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 Tbs granulated garlic
- 1/2 Tbs cumin
- 1/4 Tbs White pepper
- 3/4 lb cream cheese
Add all ingredients, except cream cheese, and bring
to a boil.
Soften cream cheese in microwave and add to soup
stock. Whisk to blend until smooth. Remove from
heat and enjoy!
