Happy Holidays!

This is the time of year when family and friends get together to enjoy one another's company. We're no different at the Courier Cafe and Silvercreek restaurant. There is always a lot going on and we love to see everyone! New Year's Eve is approaching quickly, the new "Ate at Eight" card at the Courier and we have seasonal drink specials at Silvercreek. This is also the time of year that we perform a thorough inspection and repair at the Courier and Silvercreek. Check out our close down dates and the specials we offer around that time.     Happy new year

    The holidays are fast approaching and everyone seems to be so busy that the new year always comes when you are least prepared. This year, take care of your New Year's Eve plans early by making a reservation at Silvercreek. Silvercreek provides a fun atmosphere with great food and great friends to welcome 2007.

    We will offer two seatings at Silvercreek on New Year's Eve.

    The first seating features drink specials, live music and a special a la carte menu that will be served from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

    At 9:30 PM, we will begin our New Year's Eve Package seating. This seating will include:

    • Tasting Menu prepared by Chef Christian
    • Wine pairings with each course
    • Exclusive Desserts
    • Live Music by the Holly Holmes Trio
    • Midnight Countdown with Balloon Drop
    • Champagne Toast
    • Tiaras & Top Hats
    The package with wine pairings is $75.00 per person and $45.95 per person excluding wine.
    Seating is limited so be sure to make reservations early at 328-3402. Happy New Year!


    Get the new "Ate after Eight" card at Courier

    The holidays are always so hectic and it seems like every year the season gets longer and longer. The Courier invites you to stop in after eight PM any night of the week and if you do you can get the "Ate after Eight" card. The way it works is if you eat at the Courier 8 times after 8 PM between December 20, 2006 and April 20, 2006, you will receive your 9th meal FREE!

    After eight visits after eight PM, you can select from our eight specials to receive your 9th meal free! Next time you're at the Courier, be sure to ask your server to get your "Ate after Eight" Card.

    Winter Close Down Dates for Courier and Silvercreek

    As you are probably aware, each year around Christmas, we close both the Courier Cafe and Silvercreek to do extreme cleaning, painting and remodeling. Because we have had so many complaints in previous years about the long close down schedule, we are going to try an abbreviated close down this year. We will have our crews working around the clock so we can re-open earlier.
    As far as we know, we are the only restaurants that value our customers so much that we go through this ordeal to maintain our restaurants for you. We just don't understand how other establishments don't. The Courier and Silvercreek will not be closed at the same time so please visit one of our locations to take advantage of our lunch specials during the close down.

    • Sunday, December 24, 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM
    • Closed December 25-28
    • Re-Open, Friday, December 29
    • Friday, December 29, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM
    • Saturday, December 30, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM
    • Sunday, December 31, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Monday, January 1, Closed
    • Tuesday, January 2, Resume regular hours, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM

    Silvercreek Winter Close Down Schedule
    Hours:

    • Sunday, December 24, Brunch 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, closed during evening hours
    • Monday, December 25, Closed
    • Tuesday, December 26 to Saturday, December 30, normal business hours
    • Sunday, December 31, Brunch 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, New Year's Eve 5:00 PM to Midnight
    • Monday, January 1 to Thursday, January 2, Closed
    • Friday, January 5, resume normal business hours

    Recipe of the Month: Coconut Shrimp

    Ingredients:
    Shrimp and Egg Wash:

    • 1 lb of large White Gulf Prawns (The trade name for the best size is U-15's, meaning approx. 15 shrimp per lb).
    • Egg wash: mix together 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup beaten egg
    Batter dip:
    • Seasoned flour:
    • 1 cup flour, salt & pepper
    • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
    Serving Sauce
    • 1/2 cup Sweet & Sour Sauce
    • 1/2 cup Sweet Garlic Chili Paste
    Mix together and heat over mild flame until blended.

    Rice-Coconut Jasmine
    • 2 cups Jasmine Rice
    • 3 cups water
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 1 cup coconut rum
    • Bring to a boil, shut off burner and cover for 20 minutes

    To finish:

    • Dip clean and dried shrimp in egg wash
    • Dredge dipped shrimp in seasoned flour and coconut flakes
    • Gently drop into oil heated to 350 degrees until golden brown
    • Serve with Coconut Jasmine rice and sauce
